There are varieties of khichda and any time we make it taste good. As it’s just like another type of a very healthy soup. Khichda is always made with lentils but here I have innovated it with only wheat & sambar masala. Don’t worry the dish will come out fantastic as it includes more food ingredients.
Wheat grain – 2 cup ( Soaked in water whole night )
Daliya – 1 cup
Oats – 1 cup
Gram flour – ½ cup
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Red chili powder – 2 tsp
Salt – 2 tsp
Ginger/ Garlic paste – 1 tsp
Sambar masala – 2 tsp ( according to your taste )
Onion – 2 ( Chopped )
Curry leaves – 2 string
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Fennel seed powder – 1tsp
Dried ginger powder – 1 tsp
Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Dried Red chili – 2
Green chili – 2 ( chopped )
Lemon juice – 2 tsp
Black pepper – 4
Bay leaf – 2
Water – 3 glass ( depend on how much thick you want , u can add more )
Put cooker on flame add oil with black pepper, bay leaf let them crackle. Fry 1 chop onion till light golden brown color.
Add soaked wheat grains, oats, daliya, gram flour, turmeric powder, ginger/garlic paste , coriander powder, water 2 glass. Cook for 2 whistle at full flame & 2 whistle at medium flame, Check that grains are soft & nicely mixed with other ingredients.
Now add fennel seeds powder, dried ginger powder, red chili powder, roasted cumin powder, sambar masala, salt, green chilies , water 1 glass.
Cook at medium flame till it become thick.
In a pan heat oil add mustard seeds, curry leaves, dried red chili & let them crackle. Fry 1 chopped onion till light brown colour.
Pour it on the khichda & take it out in a bowl.
Garnish with coriander leaves, lemon juice.
Your Whole Wheat Sambar Khichda is ready.
